| How to Get Here | |
| The City of Kenora is located in Northwestern Ontario, 50 km (30 miles) from the Manitoba border and 60 km (36 miles) north of the Minnesota border. The city is accessible by land, air and water (frozen or not) year round. By Land… Most guests arrive in Kenora via one of the two main highways which lead to the city. The Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 17) passes through Kenora east-west and Highway 71 reaches Kenora from the American border to the south. Kenora is approximately 2 Hours driving time from Winnipeg and 7 hours from Minneapolis. The western entry into Kenora harbour is a wonderful sight as your vehicle rounds past Husky the Muskie the Kenora downtown busrts into view across the harbour. By Air...Kenora has a fully serviced internatinal airport complete with night landing lighting. Many airlines offer charters to Kenora and regular air service is provided by Bearskin Airlines (an Air Canada regional partner). Kenora also has one of the busiest water ports in the country with more flights leaving Kenora harbour in the summer each day than Winnipeg International Airport. Float plane operators out of International Falls, Minnesota often drop their guests off at the float plane docks for their passengers to connect to flights to our northern lakes and lodges. One of the most spectacular ways to enter the city! By Water...Many guests to the city arrive via other ports on Lake of the Woods. As Lake of the Woods is an International body of water, guests travelling by boat from the US side of the lake must check in at Canada Customs on Flag Island prior to their arrival in Kenora. In winter, the Lake is frozen solid and a vast web of ice roads and snowmobile trails connect the various ports. Ice road and snowmobile travel on the lake usually is available from late December to early March but please call ahead to the Kenora Police Service (807) 467-2111 to confirm road conditions. |
